ChangeUp: What is it?

The government have given a commitment to fund new infrastructure in the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in recognition of the crucial role played by the sector in the delivery of public services. This “Change Up” initiative is well on its way and the VCS in Redbridge need to ensure that their needs are registered on a local and national level.

Redbridge must develop an Infrastructure Plan which highlights the gaps in provision and the growing needs of the sector. This Plan will firstly feed into and help formulate the East London Regional Plan. The Regional Plan will then be incorporated into the London-wide Infrastructure Development Plan. This will
then form the basis for development funding and support from the government under “Change Up”.

‘Plus People’ have been appointed as the consultants to help the VCS in Redbridge to develop their Infrastructure Plan.

A steering group has been established to oversee this work with members drawn from SACOMA, League of British Muslims, MILDA, RCVS, YMCA, Barnardos, Community Foundation, Redbridge Council, PCT, Redbridge Learning Collaborative, Redbridge Faith Forum and the Redbridge Refugee Forum. The aim is to have cross- sector representation but to limit the steering group to a manageable size. This has meant, however, that some groups are not represented but specific consultation will be held with them if this is deemed appropriate.

RedbridgeCVS will publicise future steering group meetings and consultation events in the borough via this website. If you would like further information about “Change Up” or details of steering group meetings please contact marcia@redbridgecvs.net, or call 020 8514 9611.
