Saffina Masood - Development Worker, Children's Network

My name is Saffina and I joined the organisation in 2002 as the ‘Children’s Network Development Officer’. I find my job very interesting and rewarding as I get to meet different people every day. Working with the rich mix of diverse cultural and faith community groups in Redbridge, adds to the enjoyment of my work.

Part of my role is to help voluntary groups that work with children and young people. This can include advising on Child Protection Policies, Criminal Record Bureau Checks and organising appropriate training courses for staff and volunteers. All these groups form part of what is known as the ‘Redbridge Children’s Network’.

Apart from meeting groups, I also speak to children and young people for their views on various topics for the ‘Redbridge Children’s Network’ Newsletter that is produced quarterly. This provides an opportunity for them to share their real life experiences and stories in order to help improve services for others. The Newsletter also offers a platform for member groups to highlight their work.
