RSCP: Safeguarding and Talking About Relationships and Sex

Tuesday, 7 December, 2021 - 11:45 to 17:00

Talking to children and young people about sex and relationships is associated with safeguarding and resilience and a challenge to misinformation and unhealthy peer and media messages.

This one day training course will enable professionals to develop their knowledge and confidence to support young people in making healthy choices with regard to their sexuality and sexual activity.

RSCP is pleased to offer this online course as part of its Contextual Safeguarding series, and to support updated Government Guidance.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the causes and effects of early sex
  • Describe their own values in relation to young people and sex
  • Critically analyse sex and relationships and safeguarding young people
  • Practice a range of practical ways of working with young people to help them make positive and healthy decisions for themselves
  • Consider the concept of ‘readiness’ for young people and to introduce a decision-making resource for them to use in assessing this
  • Reflect on implications and opportunities of the new Government Guidance on Relationship and Sex Education
