Redbridge Safeguarding Children Partnership is running an online training course focused on honour based abuse and forced marriage

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course participants will:

  • Understand the definitions of honour based abuse and forced marriage and the impact on children
  • Have explored cultural issues and community beliefs regarding honour and marriage and the differences between “arranged” and “forced” marriage
  • Be able to recognise forms of honour based abuse and identify risk indicators in an agency setting
  • Be able to identify practice issues with regard to cultural sensitivity, community beliefs and religion
  • Gain an understanding of the Forced Marriage Protection Orders and criminal legislation
  • Have looked at case examples
  • Be aware of the local safeguarding referral processes and both national and local support agencies.
