Voluntary Sector Network: Universal Credit

Wednesday, 13 June, 2018 - 13:00 to 14:30

Redbridge Voluntary Sector Network provides a monthly forum for staff and volunteers from voluntary and community sector groups in the borough.

We meet on the second Wednesday of each month, except for January and August, in Redbridge Central Library. Meetings include:

  • an informal sandwich lunch, allowing people to chat and network
  • reports from partnerships involving local voluntary organisations
  • information about the work of public sector bodies which affects the voluntary sector
  • speakers on topics affecting local voluntary organisations

Meetings take place in the York Room in Redbridge Central Library, Clements Rd, Ilford IG1 1EA. Anyone from a local charity or community group is welcome - just come along! A sandwich lunch is available from 12.30pm.

This month

We'll hear about Universal Credit, which is being rolled out this month in Redbridge. Universal Credit replaces several other benefits, and will mean major changes for many local people who rely on those payments. Many aspects of Universal Credit have been controversial. Colleagues from the DWP will be attending to explain how the new system will work and to answer questions.
