The new Food Roots Incubator programme, a grant award and capacity building programme for food partnerships in London, has recently launched.

The programme offers incubator support to strategic food partnerships to help them grow, diversify and become more sustainable. It also offers small grants to help food partnerships progress initiatives that address food insecurity and aim to:

  • Ensure sustainable and resilient support structures are in place.
  • Increase London’s ability to tackle the root causes of food insecurity and reduce the need for food aid.
  • Improve physical access to healthy food and increase take-up of food-related benefits.

There are two main aspects to the Food Roots Incubator programme:

  1. A six-month incubator programme will provide food partnerships with a curriculum focussed on developing their skills and long-term sustainability.
  1. Food partnerships will also receive Growth Grants of between £10,000 and £15,000 to develop, progress and take forward initiatives that address food insecurity.

Incubator support and Growth Grants will be offered to between 10 to 15 food partnerships. The deadline for food partnerships to apply to take part in the incubator programme and receive a Growth Grant is 12:00 Thursday 18th February 2021.
