The Council's "scrutiny" function ensures it is held to account by members of the public.
Scrutiny can involve attending meetings, taking part in consultations or suggesting topics for scrutiny.
Scrutiny helps ensure accountability of decision-makers through Committees that provide independent examination of policies and decisions about local services, championed by locally elected councillors. They aim to improve services by questioning service delivery, monitoring performance, and making recommendations, both before and after implementation.
The Council are currently drawing up their workplan and encourage residents to suggest topics for possible inclusion. Don’t miss the 31 May deadline!
