After several serious hiccups, Ilford & District Indoor Bowls Club new playing surface has now been completed and will be one of the finest in England.
They have worked tirelessly over the last few months to prepare the club for their reopening. Many new Covid-19 compliant measures have been introduced and true to say, bowls at Ilford will not be quite the same as usual because of strict social distancing measures. However, they have been given the green light by the English Indoor Bowls Association so emergencies and Government U-turns accepted, the club will be ready to safely welcome its members and guests from the 21st September.
The Club is always looking to extend a friendly and helpful hand to everyone in Redbridge and the surrounding communities and in particular to the lonely or recently bereaved, BAME groups and by 2021, certain disabled groups who could benefit both physically and mentally from participating in a gentle but competitive sport.
Despite the challenging changes to the way they operate they are still committed to offering a first class indoor bowls experience and their bowls coaches will be on hand to help new bowlers enjoy their superb new facilities whilst at the same time complying with strict social distancing requirements.
To see the changes they have been making to their club to ensure your safety please see their video and as the saying goes If you do not try the game you will never know what you have missed.
