International research demonstrates that projects that bring together young children and older adults can have multiple benefits for both generations and also the wider community.
From November 2017, an activity centre for up to 15 older adults will be established on site at Downshall Primary School. The activity centre will run on three mornings per week. The participants will have their own space on site but will be invited to take part in a number of joint activities during the morning with pupils.
All participants will be part of our local community. This is a community project for local people.
As well as the school, Age UK, Redbridge Music Lounge, NELFT, Redbridge Council and Lions Clubs International are taking part in the project.
A report about the project has also appeared in the Guardian.
