Project Malachi will open this autumn in Chadwick Road in Ilford. The land is being made available to the Salvation Army by Redbridge Council for this project, sponsored by a committee of local faith leaders.
The hostel will provide facilities for rough sleepers, and will include an integrated bicycle refurbishment social enterprise.
The new building will be a temporary structure created from converted shipping containers. Some of its clients will be people with no recourse to public funds, who will be helped to reconnect with their country of origin, or helped to become naturalised and able to access mainstream services.
