Action Tutoring is an official National Tutoring Programme organisation that enables young minds to succeed by matching them with qualified volunteer tutors across the country.

The organisation focuses on closing the attainment gap that can severely hinder students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

As an English or Maths tutor, you get to choose a partner school across England to volunteer with. Action Tutoring has programmes at three schools in the Redbridge area:

  • Connaught Secondary School for Girls
  • Carpenters Primary School
  • Selwyn Primary School.

You can support either in person or online.

Action Tutoring provides all tutors with training and workbooks to use in sessions, pays travel expenses of up to £5 per tutoring session attended, and will also process a DBS check for you.

Through tutoring you will be able to develop a wealth of transferable skills that employers love (interpersonal, organisational, communication), all whilst making a significant difference in the community.
