Redbridge Local authority is doing some exciting new work with Out of School Settings in the borough.

Many children and young people attend a variety of Out of Schools Settings and activities, often, without their parents’ or carers supervision. These settings provide an important service to children in our community with opportunities to gain useful skills, make new friendships and improve their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

They are generally run during evenings, weekends and school holidays, although some are part-time during school hours to meet the needs of those in-Home Education. Subjects are varied and range from sport, arts, language, learning a musical instrument, joining a youth organisation, such as scouts and guides, doing extra maths and English in a tuition Centre and education in their own faith such as a Supplementary School.

During the pandemic, the Out of School Setting team offered FREE online training support and topical webinars to all Out of School Settings Providers, Staff and Volunteers in preparation for a safe reopening. If you would like to know more about their work, or join in their training sessions, where they offer topics such as - Introduction to Mental Health concerns in Children (COVID-19), plus certificated safeguarding training, or if you would like to receive updates on their new Membership scheme please contact them here to be added to there mailing list. They look forward to hearing from you.
