Carers Week is an annual awareness campaign that celebrates and recognises the vital contribution of the UK’s unpaid carers – supporting family members and friends who are older, have a disability, mental or physical illness or need extra help as they grow older.
This year from 7th – 13th June the Carers Week theme is Visible & Valued. Everyone has a part to play in making sure carers are seen, heard, and understood; and are able to access the support and help they need.
Redbridge Carers Support Service have put together a programme of events throughout Carers Week to raise awareness of carers, to give them a stronger voice and improve their wellbeing.
Details of the events can be found on the RCSS website including the main event on 9th of June giving carers a say in a review of the Joint Carers Strategy in partnership with Redbridge Council. They will also be joined by the Worshipful the Mayor of Redbridge Councillor Roy Emmett announcing their Young Adult Carers Service as his charitable focus this year.
