Sky Sharma Foundation held their 3rd Annual Fundraising Dinner & Dance on Sunday 2 December 2019, Tabla, Ilford.
This event was held to promote the charity, SSF and to raise awareness of Mental Health. It is a known fact that one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem in a given one year. Depression and anxiety are the most common mental health problems in the poor and disadvantaged people, who are greatly affected by mental health problems.
The event began with the welcoming of guests by our host Salman Malik & an opening speech by SSF Founder & Director Neelam Sharma.
Mrs Sharma explained the mission of Sky Sharma Foundation which has been set up to provide guidance and support to individuals who are struggling with their mental health, whilst working to break down the stigma and taboo of mental health struggle that exists in the minority communities. This year SSF have carried out a total of 17 events including schools’ interactive workshops and community events which has helped us create the much-needed awareness.
Neelam thanked everyone for attending and supporting the cause. Following this, we invited the Mayor of Redbridge Debbie Kaur-Thiara to say a few words about the foundation and the cause.
During the evening a raffle draw was held, where the Mayor Debbie Kaur Thiara handed out the winning prizes to the winners. The guests were served a three-course meal whilst they enjoyed the live music entertainment by DJ Dipz Entertainment & Smashup Bhangra group from Birmingham, followed by dancing.
The fundraising event was a great success for SSF £2178.00 was raised for our mission.
SSF would like to thank everyone for their support including the audience.
