Volunteer Disco Superstars - Walk the Walk

Closing date: 30 April 2019

Walk the Walk is a grant-making breast cancer charity and organisers of the famous MoonWalk overnight power walking challenge.

Role description:

About the role

Join our 2,000 strong team of incredible volunteers at The MoonWalk London on Saturday 11h May 2019 to have fun and help to raise millions of pounds whilst doing so!

We are looking for dedicated, amazing volunteers to support us at The MoonWalk London – 15,000 women and men walking either a full or half marathon in their fantastically decorated bras, raising money and awareness for breast cancer…quite a sight to behold!!

The event starts and finishes at Clapham Common, with the walk around London.

We recruit thousands of volunteers to make The MoonWalk a safe and enjoyable event; looking after our walkers at busy crossings, keeping them hydrated and above all giving the encouragement they need to complete their epic challenge.

Main tasks and responsibilities

You could start your Saturday Night Fever in MoonWalk City, Clapham by joining one of 24 different teams, from around 5pm through to midnight – from litter picking to selling merchandise, registering baggage to handing out volunteer uniforms!

The night time is where the challenge really gets going for our amazing walkers. If you like the nightlife, marshalling or giving out water whilst surrounded by London’s famous landmarks could be for you! Start times vary between 7pm to 11pm, depending on your role, and last on average 8 hours. We can also offer site based roles at MoonWalk City throughout the night.

Finally, the early morning team take the helm on Sunday 12th May from 6am until the last walker crosses the finish line, around midday. Watching the sunrise against a London skyline is quite a sight to see! This truly is the most testing time for our walkers… Whether you join the route or MoonWalk City teams…your kind and motivating words could be all that is needed to get someone across that finish line!

Experience, skills and attributes needed

You simply need a positive and hard-working attitude for helping a great cause! In return you will meet some amazing people, raise millions of pounds for breast cancer and have the most incredible time at one of London’s most iconic events! It really is an opportunity to experience something truly unique, fun & challenging where you can donate your skills in a very practical way!

All volunteers must be over 13 years old - those between 13 & 17 must be accompanied by a volunteer over 18 years old.

A briefing pack and handbook are provided to all successful applicants.

What this role offers for volunteers
