Funder: Redbridge Safer Neighbourhood Project Fund

The Redbridge Safer Neighbourhood Project Fund is now open for applications. Voluntary and community groups can apply for funding of up to £5,000 for one year for projects that aim to prevent or reduce crime through community-led problem solving.  

Projects should demonstrate creative approaches to tackling issues and concerns that have been identified by the local community, and align with the MOPAC priority areas of: 

  • Putting victims first and reducing inequalities 
  • Keeping children and young people safe 
  • Tackling violence against women and girls 
  • Tackling hate crime and intolerance
     
How much funding is available?  

Voluntary and community groups can apply for up to £5,000 for one year. There is a total fund of £15,030 available to Redbridge groups and the Safer Neighbourhood Board expects to fund 3-4 projects.  

How are applications assessed? 

Applications are considered by Redbridge Safer Neighbourhood Board which is made up of public sector partners such as the council and the police, as well as representatives from 10 local voluntary and community sector organisations. Shortlisted applications are submitted to the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime for approval. 

My organisation is represented on the Safer Neighbourhood Board, can we still apply? 

Yes, you can still apply if your organisation is a member of the Safer Neighbourhood Board however your representative won’t be able to take part in the shortlisting process. 

We’ve received funding from the Safer Neighbourhood Fund before, can we apply again? 

Yes, you can still apply if your organisation has received funding from the Safer Neighbourhood Board in the past. 

What types of projects have been funded in the past? 

The Safer Neighbourhood Project Fund funds projects that take a creative approach to tackling the issues that matter to local communities. Examples of previously funded projects include:  

  • Redbridge Training Stars
    Project aimed at reducing disability hate crime through the delivery of disability awareness sessions led by people with lived experience.
     
  • Overgrown Front Gardens Project
    Project aimed at reducing the risk of burglary and doorstep crime by providing a free gardening service for elderly and vulnerable residents.
